Potatoes

Potatoes are a widely cultivated crop and their by-products, including potato starch are often considered waste materials that are discarded. However, this waste can be transformed into a valuable ingredient in sustainable packaging.

One way is through the use of potato starch, which is derived from the potato plant. The starch can be molded into various shapes and forms to create compostable materials.

The other is employing the potato peels and other residual materials from potato processing to create cellulose fibers which can be combined with other plant based materials to form packaging.
